Webster helped Hull KR consolidate their place in the Super League |
Widnes have released scrum-half James Webster while full-back James Ford has been told he can find another club. Webster, 30, joined the Championship side from Hull KR in 2008 while Ford joined from Castleford Tigers at the start of the season. Widnes chief executive Alex Bonney said: "[Coach] Paul Cullen made it clear that there would be changes following recent performances. "His ambition is to compete and win at the highest level." Meanwhile former Wigan forward Dave Allen has replaced hooker Mark Smith, who is sidelined with a fractured cheekbone, as club captain.
