Peacock was taken off during the win over Warrington on Friday |
Skipper Jamie Peacock is doubtful for England's match against France next month after being told he could be out for up to six weeks with a knee injury. Peacock, 33, sustained the blow after just seven minutes of Leeds' 26-16 Super League win against Warrington. But the Rhinos prop forward has been told he will not face surgery. England's game against France will be the first under new national coach Steve McNamara and is set to be played at Leigh on 12 June. Leeds Rugby head of physiotherapy Meirion Jones said: "Jamie has sprained knee ligaments and will not be available for the next 4-6 weeks." Meanwhile, Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith confirmed injured scrum-half Richie Myler will also miss McNamara's first match in charge. | 606: DEBATE |
Myler missed Friday's game after damaging a knee in Warrington's 60-4 Challenge Cup win at Huddersfield last Saturday. Wolves' former England coach Tony Smith admitted his injury is worse than initially feared. "He has got a tear in his medial ligament - he won't need surgery but he'll be in a brace for a few weeks," Smith said. "I reckon it's a six or seven-week job, which is not great news."
