Super League champions Leeds will host league leaders Wigan in the pick of the Challenge Cup quarter-finals. Holders Warrington travel to fellow Super League side Bradford, while St Helens welcome minnows Barrow. Catalans Dragons must still wait to find out who they will meet following Halifax's removal from the competition. They must travel to meet the winners of the rearranged Swinton-Batley fifth-round tie, now scheduled for next Wednesday, 19 May (kick-off 1945 BST). Championship 1 side Swinton were beaten 56-4 at home by Halifax in the fourth round on 16 April. But they were then reinstated after it was discovered that Halifax had played an ineligible player, Michael Ostick. Prop Ostick had already appeared in the Challenge Cup this season, while on loan for Rochdale Hornets in their third round tie against FC Lezignan on 7 March. And Swinton have now been reinstated, meaning an extra game to fit in to determine who hosts Catalans in the quarter-finals on 30 May. | 606: DEBATE |
"We've still got to do the travel which is difficult for us at times, particularly with ash cloud around at the moment," said Catalans coach Kevin Walters. "It could have been a lot worse, though, we're happy with that. We're happy to be still participating in a great competition." Leeds, seeking their first Challenge Cup win since 1999, will have to do things the hard way after being drawn against the Super League leaders in a game to be televised on BBC One on Saturday, 29 May (1430 BST). "First and foremost it is good to be at home and, like our game at Hull FC in the fourth round, undoubtedly this will be the tie of the round," said Leeds coach Brian McClennan. "We went to Wigan earlier this year and they beat us comfortably on the night. "They are the hot team of the competition at the moment and we will have to improve in the next two weeks. It's going to be one hell of a fixture." The other televised tie, on BBC 2, will be the other all-Super League tie between Bradford and Warrington on Sunday, 30 May (1530 BST). The St Helens- Barrow tie, initially scheduled for the Sunday, has been brought forward 24 hours to Saturday 29 May (1500 BST).
Challenge Cup quarter-final draw: 29 May Leeds v Wigan (1430 BST) St Helens v Barrow (1500 BST) 30 May Swinton or Batley v Catalans Dragons (1500 BST) Bradford v Warrington (1530 BST)
