York City Knights assistant coach Chris Thorman wants to see "a backlash" from his side in Sunday's clash with South Wales in Championship 1. Thorman said York must put last weekend's disappointing 32-22 defeat at Workington behind them. He told BBC Radio York: "If we could've played this game on Monday we would have because it's important to flush your system of any bad performances. "Sunday will hopefully see somewhat of a backlash from us." The Knights have made two changes to the side that lost at Workington, with winger Tom Lineham and forward Luke Hardbottle coming in to replace Mike Mitchell and Alex Benson. Forward, Mark Falkingham is eighteenth man. | This bunch of players are no mugs and if we play like we played on Sunday then there's a fair chance we'll get beaten again York assistant coach Chris Thorman |
It is the first time the Knights will have met South Wales as the Scorpions have entered Championship 1 for the first time this season. And Thorman said his side will be warned not to take their opponents lightly. "They're going to be well prepared. It's already proven that this bunch of players are no mugs and if we play like we played on Sunday then there's a fair chance we'll get beaten again," he said. "Obviously nobody wants that so we need to turn it around and concentrate for the full 80 minutes, and concentrate on what we are going to produce. "If we do that hopefully it will be a much improved performance."
