York City Knights have announced their first two dates for pre-season friendlies at the Huntington Stadium. They will play a team made up from local amateur players, known as the York Select, on Sunday 27 December. That game will be in memory of former Knights player Lee McTigue who died two years ago. The Knights then play Hunslet Hawks on Sunday 10 January, a game which should see a number of former players return with ex-Knights coach Paul March. Knights general manager Ian Wilson said: "The annual match against the York Select has produced two fantastic games over the last couple of years and we are pleased that this game will open the 2010 season for the Knights. "The McTigue family are very pleased that the match is once again taking place and we hope that this year's game will be another fitting tribute to Lee's memory. "The game will also showcase the best amateur talent in the York area, which is the strongest it has been for a number of years. "We are looking forward to a very competitive and entertaining game."
