Raiders coach seeks squad boost

Barrow Raiders coach Dave Clark is hopeful of replacing forward Andrew Brocklehurst after his contract was terminated for 'gross misconduct'.

Brocklehurst only joined Raiders from Super League side Salford in February and Clark was disappointed with the 26-year-old's behaviour.

"It's unfortunate it's happened this way," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"We have been trying to get players in, we'll hopefully get something in. It's important to get a depth in squad."

Raiders lie second in the Championship in their first season back in the division after last year's promotion campaign and have also made it through to the Northern Rail Cup final in August.

Defeat at Batley on Sunday was a disappointment, but with the visit of Toulouse to Craven Park on Thursday, Clark believes his side can bounce back immediately.

"We haven't concentrated on the Grand Final but we've lost two games back-to-back and we need to get things right on Thursday," he said.

"It's our performance first, and hopefully if we get that right we can get the result.

"It's important to keep pressure on the top, we've got eight games to go and we've got to be confident and keep going the way we're going."
