York City Knights moved up to second in Championship One after beating Oldham 20-18 in a thrilling game at the Huntington Stadium.
A crowd of 3,106 saw the Knights win despite Oldham having a try disallowed in the final moments.
Knights director of rugby James Ratcliffe told BBC Radio York: "I'm just really proud at this moment to be part of that team.
"We've shown a lot of determination and we've come through."
He added: "I've just said we've done it tough but I think we'll take a lot of positives from it.
"We're now second and laid the challenge down. We've got to keep there."
As for the disallowed try in the final moments Ratcliffe admitted it was a tense wait while the video referee made a decision.
"We had a monitor at the side of the field and it looked initially like he had got it down so we were pretty upset.
"But on a second looking there's a hand in there. I think sometimes you make your own luck and I think we deserved to come out of the other side of that with a narrow victory.
"We used the full 12 substitutions and we just wanted to keep the tempo up all the way.
"There's certainly areas for us to improve on again but we'll take the three points every day of the week."
