Gateshead Thunder survived a second-half fight back by Doncaster to edge their Championship encounter by 45-42 at the International Stadium on Friday. Thunder were rampant in the opening period, running in five tries, but then suffered a second half collapse. Doncaster racked up four tries in just eight minutes to bring themselves within two points of Thunder's lead. Both sides then traded late tries, but a score from Stewart Sanderson was enough to clinch Thunder a vital win.
