Wigan v Celtic Crusaders

Wigan claimed their first win in three games with a nine-try victory over basement club Celtic Crusaders.

The visitors took an early lead through Luke Dyer but Wigan hit back with tries from Pat Richards, Sean O'Loughlin, Mark Riddell and Amos Roberts.

Sam Tomkins, George Carmont, O'Loughlin and Richards increased Wigan's lead to 38-4 as the Warriors took full control.

Mark Dalle Cort scored a consolation for the Crusaders but Tomkins wrapped up the win late on.

Wigan coach Brian Noble:
"There was some good finishing and glimpses that when we look after the ball we can score some tries. It's a massive effort from both teams to say it was their fourth game in two weeks.

"Especially when the sun came out. If you were playing on the left hand side or that right hand side the sun was baking and its quite hot and quite draining.

"So had we kicked our goals it was a true reflection of what we achieved today.

"It's no secret that we were disappointed with what we did at Catalans. Two-tackle football gets you beaten especially against a good team like the Catalans.

"It's a lesson that's slowly sinking in and will continue to for the rest of the year that if we look after the ball we can compete with anybody."

Celtic Crusaders boss John Dixon:
"Disappointed is not the right word. It was the realisation that against a good side we kept plugging away and working hard. We've got to work a whole lot harder, coaches and players.

"The key thing for the Crusaders is not getting knocked over, it's getting back up. And that's us. We'll get back up again next week, we've been talking about it. We were a long way from them today, they were a whole lot better."
