Celtic Crusaders are still seeking their first Super League win |
Harlequins moved into the top six of the Super League table with a comfortable win over a Celtic Crusaders team still looking for a first victory. Tries from Tony Clubb, David Howell and Danny Orr put the visitors in charge. Adam Peek crossed for the hosts before half-time, but tries from Chris Melling and another from Orr increased Quins' lead to 24 points. Marshall Chalk and Mark Dalle Cort crossed for the hosts after the break, but Luke Dorn bagged a brace for Quins.
Celtic Crusaders coach John Dixon: "I think Quins were far superior. Recently we have been very good defensively and today was not to a standard we set ourselves. "That was the disappointing part. Irrespective of how you carry the ball and how many points you score, the mark of a good footy team is how they defend and how they defend collectively. "Morale is as good as it could be because winning is what professional sport is about. The changing room after today is a pretty tough place to be." Harlequins coach Brian McDermott: "I thought we played OK but there were a few too many errors for my liking. "If you look at the Crusaders' scorelines and results, they have not been getting turned over. They have not been conceding 60 or 70 points. They are no mugs. "Crusaders played some good stuff and I don't think they were 40 points worse than we were. "We dealt with them in the second half in that our goal-line defence was very strong. That's one area that we are working on and it is an area we have had a few little concerns with over the weeks."
