Wakefield notched up 19 points in the final quarter of an hour to secure a convincing victory over Castleford.

Danny Sculthorpe's introduction on the half-hour sparked Wakefield into life when his pass set up a Tony Martin try.

Ryan Atkins touched down just after the break for the first of his two tries before Rangi Chase's kick was pounced on by Joe Westerman to give Cas hope.

But that was the cue for Wakefield to step up a gear, with Matt Blaymire and Sean Gleeson touching down.

Wakefield coach John Kear:

"They play some good rugby league but unfortunately for them I like watching them and come down a lot because I live nearby.

"I tend to know quite a lot about them and I think we handled them well and exploited their weaknesses.

"It was a very satisfying night. What we have done on the training field this week we have transferred to the playing field and I am very pleased with the players."

Castleford coach Terry Matterson:

"They were better than us in every facet. In the first half we went toe to toe, had some opportunities but didn't take them.

"They were pretty ruthless and completed every set in the second half. They had all the ball and did things a lot better than us.

"Maybe we dodged a bullet against Bradford last time. We weren't great and we have got to turn it around pretty quickly."
