Grimshaw ready for Knights return

York City Knights

York City Knights scrum-half Danny Grimshaw could be fit again for the pre-season friendlies in January.

The 22-year old missed almost all of last year with a neck problem that needed surgery to correct.

Knights coach Paul March told BBC Radio York that he is delighted that Grimshaw has made a much faster recovery that expected.

"Danny has surprised me actually. He's lifted some good weights in the gym and building himself up nicely," he said.

"He tells me he's ready to play so I'm just waiting on physios to give me that indication as well and once I get that he'll slot straight into the friendlies and we'll see how he comes back," added March.

"He wants to be here. He did something about his injury, he got it sorted and we're going to give him that opportunity to show everybody at York that he can play at this level and he wants to take that."

The Knights first friendly is against a York Select XII on Sunday 18 January at the Huntington Stadium.
