Whitehaven coach Ged Stokes could not hide his delight after his side stunned favourites Halifax 24-22 in Sunday's elimination semi-final game. The win keeps Haven's dreams of a Grand Final alive and Stokes said he was impressed with his side's performance. "I think I've used all the superlatives that I know about this team," he told BBC Radio Cumbria. "It's unbelievable, Halifax are a superb side and they tried everything they knew." The Marras now face Salford City Reds on Thursday as they battle for a place in the National League One Grand Final on Sunday 28 September. It was an emotional occasion for Samoan veteran David Fatialofa, who retires from rugby league at the end of the season.
The experienced prop is now preparing himself for at least one more run-out in a Whitehaven shirt on Thursday. "I hope there are more games, the boys are making it hard for me to finish," he joked. "The boys keep winning and winning, and the way that we're going at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if we got to the final."
