Bowlers gave us an edge - Clement

Netherfield CC

Netherfield bowler Scott Clement believes the quality of his club's bowling attack was a key factor in this season's Northern League title win.

Clement was one of four Netherfield bowlers who figured in the top 20 bowling averages and hailed his team-mates for their role in the success.

"To win games you've got to bowl teams out," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"You've got to take wickets throughout the season and 120 wickets between four of us isn't bad."

The title is Netherfield's first Northern Premier League crown since 2001, and Clement admitted the success took a while to sink in.

"It was strange the way things happened, and the worst thing I've known was the 50 minutes wait after we finished playing at Morecambe on Saturday night.

"A lot of people were mentally drained, as well as physically, the whole occasion got a few people, including me."
