Widnes Vikings coach Steve McCormack admitted his side were not quite good enough after they suffered a 32-16 defeat to Halifax on Thursday.

The result means they are out of the National League One play-offs and now need to start building for next season.

"There was a lot of effort, commitment, pride and passion in that game," McCormack told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"But we were just lacking in a bit of quality. But I'm really proud of what everybody at the club have achieved."
