Hazell returned to haunt his former club with the only goal of the game
Tranmere reject Reuben Hazell gave Oldham a big lift at Prenton Park as he headed home the only goal to give the Latics their fourth win of the season.
It was an enthralling confrontation, but the tension showed with Latics boss John Sheridan sent to the stands.
Hazell struck just after the half-hour mark, ghosting in to plant Andy Liddell's free-kick into the corner.
Bas Savage saw Tranmere's best effort well saved, but Liddell hit the bar as Oldham threatened a second.
