Salford star Richard Myler has welcomed the news that the Super League is set to be expanded from 12 to 14 clubs. Salford, Widnes and Celtic Crusaders are among those vying for a licence when the Rugby Football League makes its decision on 22 July. Myler, who used to play for Widnes, has said the expansion provides great opportunities. "I want to play in Super League and this is a great opportunity," said the Reds' teenage half-back. His views were echoed by the RFL executive chairman Richard Lewis. "I believe that the sport is on the up and there are so many things that are going well," said Lewis. "The international game is growing and it is probably as good a time as any for the sport to go to a 14-team Super League competition. "I also know the National League is a very strong competition and that will remain very strong even when Super League goes to 14."
