Castleford (10) 16 Tries: Dorn 2, McGoldrick Goals: Dixon 2 Wakefield (18) 32 Tries: Brough, Blanch 2, Blaymire, Rooney Goals: Brough 6
Wakefield put in a tough second-half defensive display to hold off a strong challenge from bottom side Castleford. The Wildcats fell behind to an early Luke Dorn try but hit back through Danny Brough before Ryan McGoldrick edged the Wildcats ahead once more. Damien Blanch, with the first of his two scores and Matt Blaymire gave Wakefield the interval lead. Dorn hit back on the restart but Jamie Rooney and Blanch and five Danny Brough goals put Wakefield into the top six.
Castleford coach Terry Matterson: "I thought the effort was there but our last-play options were poor. "We gave them some really soft tries, we were chasing the game and started to play sideways. "They were more patient than us and that's why they won. We're just giving away points too easily." Wakefield coach John Kear: "It's a tough place to come and I'm delighted with how we played. "Our pivotal players were smart. Danny Brough, who was nervous about coming back to his old club, played very well. "But Sam Obst was sensational. For him to play as long as he played and make as many tackles as he did and still be a threat was very impressive."
