Defeat piled more pressure on Wolves coach Paul Cullen

Castleford staged a late comeback to edge past Warrington for their first away win of the season.

The Tigers scored four tries in the last 12 minutes through Michael Wainwright, Stuart Donlan and two from Luke Dorn.

The Wolves had looked in control with a 28-14 lead with Chris Riley (2), Chris Hicks, Kevin Penny and Vinnie Anderson all going over.

But the Tigers refused to give in and they came away with a famous victory.

The defeat for the Wolves piles even more pressure on coach Paul Cullen with the Warrington fans booing the team as they left the field after the game and BBC Sport understands the club will release a statement clarifying Cullen's position on Tuesday.

The away side, who still lie bottom of the Super League table, got off the mark first with teenager Richard Owen and Michael Shenton crossing before two tries in two minutes from Anderson and Riley levelled the game.

But just before the break Joe Westerman and Shenton combined for Adam Fletcher to squeeze over in the corner for a 14-10 advantage.

Warrington took the lead after the interval with Riley grabbing his second try before Cas were reduced to 12 men with Ned Catic sin-binned for interference.

Penny and Hicks capitalised to extend the Wolves lead and they looked safe before Castleford hit back, with Dorn sealing the win when he intercepted Michael Monaghan's pass to race almost the full length of the field in the last minute.

Warrington assistant coach Jimmy Lowes

"Paul (Cullen) is pretty peeved to be honest and talking to the lads about the performance. There is nothing sinister but he wants 10 or 15 minutes with the players.

"When teams get a roll on it's difficult to stop them and if I knew the answers I would be a rich man.

"As professionals we have to move on but I can understand the fans' frustrations. Things are not quite happening for us and we have to get our confidence back."

Castleford coach Terry Matterson

"Confidence has been low but we showed some real fight. I would have been happy with an ugly win but this was a really good win. The hungrier side won.

"I thought we could win even when we were down 28-14. I didn't think we deserved to be facing that scoreline but everything was going their way at the time.

"We knew this was going to be a tough year but the boys have worked hard and we dug in defensively which won us the game and we scored some really good tries too."
