Castleford (14) 24 Tries: Shenton, McGoldrick, Westerman, Wainwright, Dorn. Goals: Dorn, Westerman
Bradford (28) 46 Tries: Sykes, Newton, Burgess, Morrison, Langley, Platt, Jeffries, Finnigan Goals: Deacon (7)
Three tries in quick succession before half-time earned Bradford a win which was less comfortable than it sounds. Tries by Paul Sykes and Terry Newton cancelled out Michael Shenton and Ryan McGoldrick's early Cas scores, but Joe Westerman's try restored their lead. But then Sam Burgess, Glenn Morrison and Jamie Langley scored for the Bulls before the break to put them on top. Michael Wainwright's try after the break cut the gap to 10 points, but three late tries sealed the Bulls' win.
Castleford coach Terry Matterson: "I'm very disappointed because we scored 24 and again we had chances to score more tries but we just found ourselves chasing the game. "The first three tries all came off mistakes and all of a sudden you find
yourself 16-10 down. "They're too good a side, if you give them too much room they'll punish you." Bradford coach Steve McNamara: "I thought we scored some pretty spectacular tries and played some really good stuff. "It was a mixed bag but I'm really pleased to come to a club like Cas who have already taken two major scalps. "They were always going to come out all guns firing and we came here and got the job done."
