Wakefield (10) 16 Tries: Grix, Obst Goals: Brough 4
Warrington (2) 2 Goals: Hicks
Warrington missed the chance to go second in the table as they fell to defeat in a scrappy match at Wakefield and also had Ben Westwood sent off. A Chris Hicks penalty put Warrington ahead but Danny Brough levelled with a penalty before Scott Grix went over in the corner for the opening try. Brough slotted two more penalties in the first half as Wakefield dominated. After the break Sam Obst went over and Brough added the extras before Westwood was dismissed for a high tackle. The second row had only just returned to the field after spending time in the sin-bin following persistent infringements in the first half. Wakefield pair Tony Martin and Jamie Rooney were also sent to the sin-bin in the opening period.
Wakefield coach John Kear: "The players came out with a lot of credit and a lot of reward, it was fully deserved. "To restrict a team like Warrington to no tries you have just got to applaud the defensive effort they put in. "You saw the strength of character and the morale resolve of those players in atrocious conditions."
Warrington coach Paul Cullen: "We have again paid the ultimate price for failing to control the ball. "The individual errors that we have committed are really detracting from the work we want to do. "Wakefield's completion rate was better than ours, their kicking game was better than ours, their field position was better than ours.
