Castleford: (12) 16 Tries: McGoldrick, Dixon, Dorn Goals: Westerman (2) Harlequins: (12) 22 Tries: McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Orr, Wells, Purdham Goals: Purdham (2), Paul Rob Purdham kicked two goals and scored a try as Harlequins ensured Castleford must wait for their first points. Ryan McGoldrick put the home side ahead but it was a short-lived lead as Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook went over under the posts, with Purdham converting. Kirk Dixon restored Cas's lead before Danny Orr scored against his old side. Luke Dorn went over when Quins were down to 12 men before another former Tigers player, Jon Wells, and Purdham scored late on to wrap up victory. Castleford coach Terry Matterson:
"Our effort was great, and we played some nice football at times, but we were a little bit dumb. "The boys had a big dig, but it's just not going our way at the moment. There is no doubt that this is our best performance of the year. "I like some of the stuff we do but we need to be smarter at some stages." Harlequins coach Brian McDermott on Danny Orr: "Danny was involved in everything, and It must have pleased him to do that against his former club. "He's like that every week, a model pro and the ultimate competitor. "Castleford played really well and defended with passion, but we also had some fight in us. We wouldn't have won that game last year."
