80 mins: The hooter sounds for the end of the game. GB deserve victory and go 1-0 up in the three-Test series.

80 mins: Sam Burgess cops a forearm in the face from Fuifui Moimoi. The GB man staggers around before Tony Smith hauls him oiff.

75 mins: TRY GB 20-14 NZ
Shontayne Hape goes over in the right corner after GB lose concentration. Moments earlier, Sam Burgess had floored Fuifui Moimoi as the Kiwi tried to a barge a hole in the Lions defence. While the GB players congratuled him, NZ took advantage to score their third try of the night. Hohaia misses the extras but the gap is down to six points.

71 mins: Maurie Fa'asavalu doesn't look as though he'll be back on the pitch tonight. He is sitting on the sidelines with a bag of ice on his right ankle.

67 mins: Thomas Leuluai takes a high shot from Gareth Ellis and the Kiwis get a penalty. Fuifui Moimoi takes the ball at pace and knocks Ellis back a few yards. No mean feat that. Moimoi is clearly smarting after being poleaxed by Sam Burgess and is determined to make someone pay.

66 mins: Jon Wilkin tries his luck with a little dab through with his right boot. The ball just eludes the chasing Gareth Ellis and goes dead.

65 mins: The Kiwis are looking very weary now. It's going to take a big effort to rescue anything from this game.

62 mins: TRY GB 20-10 NZ
Sam Burgess turns from villain to hero. He grabs a debut try under the posts after taking an inside pass from Leon Pryce. Burrow adds the extras. NZ are on the ropes now.

60 mins: Great tackle on Taniela Tulaki from Ade Gardner. The St Helens winger wraps up his opposite number beautifully as he tries to force his way over in the corner.

59 mins: Sam Burgess almost takes Fuifui Moimoi's head off with a high left arm. The GB teenager is on report. He'll be lucky if he escapes a ban. Moimoi takes a much-needed breather on the sidelines.

54 mins: First of the wind-up merchants on the 606 website: "God this game is boring. I thought rugby league was meant to be 'exciting'. Give me England v South Africa any day!"

53 mins: "The momentum really has swung to red, white and blue of Great Britain.

51 mins: NZ are looking a little shaky. Taniela Tulaki drops Leon Pryce's big boot downfield and is quickly grabbed by a couple of GB tacklers.

49 mins: TRY GB 12-10
Sam Perrett makes a real mess of Rob Burrow's deep kick. The full-back thinks the ball is going dead but it takes a funny bounce, stays in play and Gareth Raynor pounces to touch down. Burrow adds the extras.

47 mins: Gareth Raynor is denied a try by the video referee. It's the right decision. The winger does not get downward pressure on the ball and also gives Thomas Leuluai a big shove after Rob Burrow's kick pings off two NZ players.

45 mins: GB must drop out from their own line again as the Kiwis turn up the pressure.

43 mins: Paul Wellens can't take a Lance Hohaia bomb and drops it over the GB tryline. Wellens is eventually collared and the Lions are foirced to kick out from under their own posts.

42 mins: News in that Bradford winger Tame Tupou won't play again tonight. He might not play again in this series if fears he has damaged knee ligaments are realised.

1917: We're off again at the Galpharm Stadium.

40 mins: The half-time hooter sounds. GB should be in front but have blown several chances and made some uncharacteristic errors. I can't help feel the loss of Kevin Sinfield has been a telling factor. They need someone to take charge and direct matters.

40 mins: Not good news for NZ. Winger Tame Tupou goes down injured and is left hobbling around when he eventually gets to his feet.

39 mins: Lance Hohaia is held up a yard short in the left corner after a great passage of play from NZ. Their continual offloads have GB rushing around all over the pitch to keep them out.

35 mins: "There is a spring in NZ Zealand's step now. They have come off the ropes and are on the front foot."

34 mins:TRY GB 8-10 NZ
Maurie Fa'asavalu spills a pass and puts GB in all sorts of trouble deep in their own half. Paul Whatuira picks the ball up and eventually gets the ball down despite Sean O'Loughlin's great attempt to deny him. Lance Hohaia kicks the extras.

33 mins: PENALTY GB 8-4 NZ
Rob Burrow goes some way to making amends by kicking a penalty after NZ are penalised just inside their own half.

31 mins: GB waste another golden opportunity to extend their lead. Rob Burrow breaks through and only needs to find the hands of Maurie Fa'asavalu on his inside. But the pass is dreadful and Fa'asavalu has no chance of collecting it.

29 mins: TRY GB 6-4 NZ
Maurie Fa'asavalu bulldozes his way to the NZ line after taking a short pass from James Roby. Rob Burrow adds the extras. Anyone think Fa'asavalu shouldn't be wearing the GB shirt now?

26 mins: Rob Burrow races his way down field after Thomas Leuluai's kick ricochets off the Leeds scrum-half's shins. Burrow is eventually hauled down on halfway.

24 mins: GB are getting in a muddle when they approach the sixth tackle. They seem to forget they need to kick. This time Sean O'Loughlin hurriedly boots the ball under pressure but only succeeds in putting it dead.

21 mins: GB should have been on level terms. Replacement James Roby sees his low kick rebound into his arms off a Kiwi defender, but he spills the ball as he dives for the line.

19 mins: Maurie Fa'asavalu is on the pitch for his debut and makes a big impact with his first carry. He burst through the first NZ tackle and makes several yards before being eventually hauled to the ground.

17 mins: GB spurn a good attacking opportunity. Terry Newton's poor offload is not picked up cleanly by Rob Burrow, who knocks on.

12 mins: Rob Burrow is taking the early kicking responsibilities for GB. But he overhits a high bomb, letting NZ off the hook.

9 mins: GB fail to breach the NZ line despite three consecutive sets. They turnover the ball when Gareth Ellis is held up on the sixth tackle. Did they miscount? Is the loss of Kevin Sinfield already having a telling contribution?

6 mins: Good pressure from GB. The Kiwis are forced to kick out from under their posts.

3 mins: TRY GB 0-4 NZ
Shontayne Hape pounces on Thomas Leuluai's dab through to touch down. Lance Hohaia somehow fails to bag the extras, pulling his conversion right of the posts. The try comes after Sam Burgess is penalised for a high tackle. The Kiwis refuse the two points on offer and kick to touch. They work their way to the GB line and waste little time opening the scoring through Bradford centre Hape.

1 min: Sam Burgess does not have to wait long for his first touch in Test rugby. He collects the kick-off and powers his way into the New Zealand tacklers.

1814: Now it's the Haka. Thankfully no Great Britain player has done a Willie Mason and wound up the Kiwis. Lots of respect on show.

1811: It's time for the national anthems. First up, it's 'God Defend New Zealand'.

1807: Right, now we're hearing it's a stomach bug not food poisoning that has sidelined Kevin Sinfield. One thing's for certain, he's not playing tonight. But still no news on who's going to be taking the kicks for GB. Wellens, Burrow and even Burgess have been tipped to step into the breach.

1758: New Zealand were stuffed 58-0 by the Aussies a few weeks ago. But don't go kidding yourself that this will be a romp for GB. The Kiwis crushed the Lions 34-4 when the teams last met a year ago and they'll be better off for their hit-out against the Kangaroos.

1753: Is it ironic that there's no recognised first-choice kicker for GB when only Wigan and Catalans had a non-British primary kicker last year?!

1750: Kevin Sinfield's absence means all seven St Helens players in Tony Smith's squad are on duty tonight. Wellens, Gardner and Pryce all start, with Graham, Fa'asavalu, Roby and Wilkin on the bench.

1745: There seem to be a lot of empty spaces in the stands at the Galpharm Stadium. Hopefully they'll fill up between now and kick-off.

1742: Paul Wellens will do the kicking. He does a good job for Saints when Long is out.

1723: A terrible thought has just hit me. With Sinfield out, who's going to do the goalkicking? Burrow, perhaps? The omens aren't good for GB and we haven't even kicked off!

1716: Some urgent team news! Kevin Sinfield has been ruled out because of illness. Sean O'Loughlin will start at 13, with Jon Wilkin coming into the 17 on the bench.

1700: Just 75 minutes to kick-off at Huddersfield's Galpharm Stadium. Really looking forward to this one given all the chat in midweek. New Zealand sounding off about Adrian Morley's conduct tells me on thing - the Kiwis fear the Warrington prop. Let's hope he keeps his head but loses none of his ferocity in the tackle. The opening minutes could be interesting, that's for sure. I think we're in for a treat.
