Fa'afili scored 21 tries in the regular season for Warrington |
Henry Fa'afili's move to Harlequins RL is in serious doubt after the prolific winger agreed a deal with French rugby union side Biarritz. A Biarritz spokesman told BBC Sport that the 27-year-old has signed a two-year permanent deal in France.
But Quins director of rugby Tony Rea said the London club was still in talks with Fa'afili and that the issue would be resolved next week.
Quins announced the signing of Fa'afili from Warrington in September.
The New Zealand league international, who ended last season as Super League's top tryscorer, was released by the Wolves because of salary cap issues.
Rea confirmed that Fa'afili would be playing for Biarritz in the short-term, but said that the player's long-term future was unclear.
"We're still talking with him," Rea told BBC Sport.
"It's a little bit complicated but it's not as big a drama as people think. We hope to sort things out over the next few days."

The Super League season does not start again until February next year, while the French domestic season gets off to a belated start after the end of the current World Cup.
But Fa'afili has been quoted on the Biarritz website talking about his long-term ambitions in France.
"I feel good in Biarritz," Fa'afili told the club's website.
"I've joined the squad in training and it's been good to get to know the players and coaches. I won't have any problems adapting to the rain here after coming from England!
"Now, I must learn French and I hope we can be champions of France. I know Biarritz are also focussing on the Heineken Cup - they are a great team, both in the forwards and in the backs."
