Haven lost 54-6 to Widnes in the Northern Rail final this season. |
Workington Town have appointed Dave Rotheram as their new head coach following his departure from West Cumbrian rivals Whitehaven. Rotheram was a free agent after the Haven board decided not to renew his contract, and replaces Ged Stokes at Town who was sacked in April.
The former St Helens assistant spent two years at Haven, leading the club to fourth place in National League One.
He also led them to a first appearance in this year's Northern Rail Cup Final.
Haven's 32-24 defeat to Halifax in the National League One play-offs on Sunday spelt the end for Rotheram's career at the Recreation Ground.
The new Town boss told BBC Radio Cumbria: "It doesn't matter who you are. Whether you're Jose Mourinho, Daniel Anderson or Ian Millward, we've all had disappointments in our life."
"It's just great to be getting back on the bike so quick. I'm very happy to be here."
