Whitehaven coach Dave Rotheram led his side out for the very last time with a 32-24 defeat to Halifax in the National League One play-offs. Rotheram, whose contract will not be renewed for next season, saw Halifax take an 18-6 half-time lead, with Craig Calvert the try scorer for Haven.
Haven attempted a second-half comeback with tries from Carl Rudd and Calvert levelling the scores.
But tries from Richard Varkulis and Damian Ball clinched a win for Halifax.
Elsewhere, Workington Town and Barrow Raiders both suffered defeats in the National League Two play-offs.
Town were crushed 48-0 by Oldham while Barrow lost 36-20 to Featherstone Rovers, with Liam Harrison, Andy Ellis, Lee Dutton and Michael Basan getting the tries for the Raiders.
