A five-try second-half blitz helped Hull consolidate fourth place with victory against Wakefield at Belle Vue. The home side had an eight-point cushion at half-time thanks to 16 points from centre Jamie Rooney.
But referee Phil Bentham sent Ricky Bibey and Adam Watene to the sin-bin in quick succession and the visitors made the most of their two-man advantage.
Tries from Danny Tickle, Gareth Raynor, Matthew Head, Richard Whiting and Motu Tony secured the two points for Hull.
Willie Manu and Craig Hall had touched down in the first half to keep the Airlie Birds in touch after early tries from Ryan Aktins, Jason Demetriou and Rooney.
Second row Danny Tickle was in good touch with the boot, adding seven goals to the total.
Hull coach Peter Sharp: "We were a bit soft in the first half but we muscled up and were a bit more direct in the second. We toughed it out.
"We had a couple off the pace tonight but we have a lot of guys that haven't trained. We need a rest to regroup but the players have done a great job.
"We're trying to play a bit better and I think we're doing that. If we can do that the results will happem."
Wakefield coach John Kear: "I think that the biggest influence of the game wasn't the players.
"I don't want to say too much because I don't want fining. But I hope (the referee) looks at his performance."
"I thought we were very good in the first 40 minutes and went more direct in the second and took full advantage of circumstances. I thought we lost our composure a little but I think there might be underlying reasons for that."
