Wakefield: (14) 28

Harlequins: (4) 14
Tries: Hill, Wells, Smith
Goals: Orr
Wakefield boosted their play-off hopes with a hard-fought win over Harlequins to move up to fifth in the table. Quins' Mark McLinden had a try ruled out controversially early on and Jamie Rooney, Ryan Atkins and Paul White made them pay with first-half scores.
Ned Catic and Atkins completed the win with tries in the second half.
Scott Hill had given Quins a fighting chance by scoring just before the break, but further scores from Jon Wells and Tyrone Smith were not enough.
Harlequins coach Brian McDermott on his side's disallowed try for obstruction:
"I think that as a defender the onus is on you to make the best attempt to make a tackle.
"It's almost just getting to the stages where players can just throw their hands in the air and say that someone's run across them.
"I'm not having a judgement on what went on here tonight I just think the
attitude of the ruling needs to be looked at, that's my opinion over recent
weeks."
Wakefield coach John Kear:
"It was a tough game. If somebody was going to say to me before the game that
we'd win 28-14 and that we'd put a performance like that up I'd say 'thank you
very much'.
"It allows us to progress to the next game against Hull on Friday.
"But I was absolutely delighted that we came out with a plan, we stuck to the
plan, we remained composed throughout and we played some really good rugby
league as well."
