Carney spent 2006 playing for Newcastle Knights in Australia |
New NRL side Gold Coast Titans are confident of overcoming a visa problem that has delayed the arrival of Great Britain winger Brian Carney. The former Wigan star, who spent 2006 with Newcastle Knights, was absent from Titans training this week.
Coach John Cartwright quashed rumours that he was unhappy, saying: "Brian has been held up with a visa problem.
"We have spoken to the government departments and everything looks to have been sorted out."
Cartwright added: "It has to do with the fact he has had three employers over the past 12 months."
Former Leeds full-back Richard Mathers, who is the only Englishman plying his trade in Australia's National Rugby League, was among the Titans players who reported for pre-season training.
