Carney in action on his Newcastle debut |
Great Britain vice-captain Brian Carney was involved in an incident in Sydney bar just hours after his successful debut for new club Newcastle Knights. He was fined 230 for trying to return to a bar he had been asked to leave.
"Police informed him that re-entering licensed premises after being asked to leave is a breach of licensing laws and fined him," said a club statement.
"He apologised to the security staff and police at the time and later called the hotel to express his regret."
The club says it will not be taking any action against Carney, who enjoyed a dream debut by scoring a try in the 25-6 win over Parramatta.
"I regard the fine and the embarrassment Brian has suffered as sufficient punishment," said chief executive Ken Conway.
