Anderson played for England in the 2000 World Cup |
St Helens and former Great Britain prop forward Paul Anderson will retire at the end of the Super League season. The 34-year-old Castleford-born player has made over 300 appearances for Halifax, Leeds, Bradford and St Helens.
Anderson said: "I never envisaged the great two seasons that I finished my career with at the Saints - it's been a real bonus.
"I'm looking forward to a strong finish to 2006 but feel that another full season would be too much."
St Helens chairman Eamonn McManus said: "Paul has been a fantastic professional throughout his career and we have had the benefit of that over the last 18 months.
"His professionalism and commitment have been first-class and I hope he can go out on a high with the Saints at Old Trafford in October."
