Jersey bobsleigh duo ready to go

Crowell says his and Will Golder's preparations have gone well

Jersey's bobsleigh team have said they are ready to take on the best in Britain this weekend.

Will Golder and Kevan Crowell are at the British Bobsleigh Championships at the track used in the last Winter Olympics at Cesana in Italy.

"Preparations have been very, very good," brakeman Crowell told BBC Radio Jersey ahead of Friday's opening day.

"We have progressed as quick as anyone, the training is good and Will is driving well."

Crowell added: "We've only had one crash, on Tuesday, which rattled us both but apart from that it's gone very, very well."

In theory we could be 10th but we would like to push into the top eight and there's no reason why we can't push for the top six

Conditions in Italy have been good but snow on Wednesday has made the Cesana track, seen as the second fastest in the world, slow down.

Crowell and Golder were 12th at last year's championships and are hoping to break into the top 10 this year.

"There are fewer teams this year, but the quality has improved," Crowell said.

"There are nine British teams and six civilian teams so in theory we could be 10th but we would like to push into the top eight and there's no reason why we can't push for the top six from what we've seen this week. "
