The Charlotte Bobcats tasted victory for the first time in their brief history, beating Orlando 111-100 thanks to 20 points from Primoz Brezec.
They held Orlando without a basket for almost five minutes in the second quarter to take a 49-42 halftime lead.
And they never looked back, the Bobcats' Emeka Okafor getting the better of Dwight Howard in a battle of the top two rookies in the league.
Steve Francis, who hit game-winning buckets in the Magic's first two contests of the new season, fouled out with just nine points.
Elsewhere, Dwyane Wade continued his impressive form with a career-high 37 points, as the Miami Heat beat the Washington Wizards 118-106 for their third-straight win.
Wade also dished out a career-best 12 assists and grabbed eight rebounds for the Heat, who started 3-0 for the second time in franchise history.
And an injury-hampered Shaquille O'Neal still contributed 13 points and eight boards to his new team.
