The Los Angeles Lakers launched the National Basketball Association season with an 89-78 victory over Denver. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 25 points, while new signing Chris Mihm scored 23 points with 12 rebounds.
Mihm is one of several players drafted in to fill a hole left by the trade of Shaquille O'Neal to the Miami Heat.
"He [Mihm] is very aggressive. He doesn't back down from anything," said Bryant. "He's been playing extremely well since the start of training camp."
