Szczerbiak scored 21 points against the Mavs

Wally Szczerbiak's jump shot at the final buzzer gave the Minnesota Timberwolves a last-gasp 100-98 win over the high-flying Dallas Mavericks.

Szczerbiak's game-winning basket gave the Timberwolves their 30th victory of the season despite blowing a 17-point third-quarter lead. He had 21 points in the win, Minnesota's 10th in a row at home.

All-Star Game MVP Kevin Garnett had 26 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for Minnesota while Radoslav Nesterovic chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds.

German star Dirk Nowitzki scored 34 points for the Mavericks and Michael Finley notched 21 despite failing to get on the board in the first half.

Despite the defeat - and the end of a four-game winning streak on the road - Dallas still have the best record in the NBA at 38-11.

Elsewhere, Karl Malone posted 33 points and nine assists to help the Utah Jazz to a 103-101 overtime victory over the Houston Rockets.

Jazz point guard John Stockton just missed a triple-double with 18 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds, while Chinese star Yao Ming contributed 25 points and 10 rebounds for Houston.
