Helen and Carol Galashan moved into medal position with their final dive |
Helen and Carol Galashan took bronze in the women's 10m synchro at the European Championships in Turin, continuing Britain's run of medal form. The 21-year-old twins from Leeds were fourth in their semi-final and fifth overall with one dive to go. But they scored 71.40 points with their final dive, the back two-and-a-half somersault, one-and-a-half twist piked, to move ahead of Italy and Ukraine. The gold medal was won by Russia's Natalia Goncharova and Yulia Koltunova. The result comes a day after Brooke Graddon clinched bronze in the women's 10m platform. The British team for the championships consists largely of members of the British Diving development programme. In the men's 3m springboard Britain's Callum Johnstone and Charles Calvert finished in 21st and 25th place respectively.
