Graddon missed qualification for this year's World Championships |
Britain's Brooke Graddon clinched a bronze medal in the women's 10m platform on the first day of the European Diving Championships in Turin. The 21-year-old finished with 317.70 points, narrowly behind German Nora Subschinski on 318.50. A handstand back-double somersault with one-and-a-half twists in the free position was her highest-scoring dive. Yulia Koltunova took gold for Russia with a score of 331.35, while Graddon's team-mate Helen Galashan came fifth. It was Graddon's first major event since taking a high-board bronze in the British Championships in February. That result meant she missed out on qualification for the World Championships in August. The British team for this event consists largely of members of the British Diving development programme. Earlier in the day, Oliver Dingley, 16, came 14th in the men's 1m springboard with a total of 309.35.
