Sexton put in a big perfomance in Sunday's race |
Katy Sexton will defend her 200m backstroke crown at next month's World Championships after a strong display at the final trials in Swansea. Sexton won in two minutes 11.49 seconds, after missing out over both the 50 and 100m distances.
Jo Jackson also booked her place on the plane to Montreal in the 400m freestyle.
But former world champion Mark Foster will not be in Canada after missing the mark in the 50m freestyle.
The achievements of Sexton and Jackson means that 15 swimmers have qualified for consideration for the GB team.
Sexton got the better of Mel Marshall, who was 0.01 seconds outside the qualification time of 2:12.18, with Jo Fargus taking third in 2:12.20.
Jo Jackson finished second behind Caitlin McClatchey in the 400m freestyle with the Scot breaking Sarah Hardcastle's 19-year-old British record with a time of 4:07.02 seconds.
Foster's winning time of 22.64 secs in the 50m freestyle was not good enough to give him a spot on the team.
Elsewhere, Olympic bronze medallist David Davies swam the second fastest 1500m of the year , finishing almost a minute ahead of his nearest rival in 15:02.33.
