Madeline Perry lost to world number two Natalie Grinham |
Madeline Perry has been knocked out of the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Open despite putting up a great fight against Natalie Grinham. Perry, from Banbridge in County Down, took the world number two to five sets but eventually lost Thursday's match 11-9, 12-14, 11-7, 6-11, 11-6. On Wednesday Perry had defeated Malaysia's Sharon Wee 11-9, 8-11, 11-5, 11-5 to reach the last 16. Perry reached the semi-finals at the recent World Championships in Manchester. The Irish number one has returned to top form after having to recuperate following an assault last year. Perry was mugged after leaving a restaurant in Milan 14 months ago and was left with a severe brain injury plus a broken temporal bone in her skull.
