Mark Selby made the final two years ago

Leicester's Mark Selby has said he is determined to win the World Championship next month.

Selby, who went out in the first round of the tournament last year, is currently ranked world number four.

He told BBC East Midlands Today: "That's what I play snooker for, to win the World Championship and also to get to world number one.

"It means everything to me and last year really hurt me a lot going out in the first round."

Selby added: "Having reached the final (losing to John Higgins in 2007) before makes you hungry and makes you want more."

He lost his Masters title to Ronnie O'Sullivan in January in a thrilling final which O'Sullivan edged 10-8.
