Leicestershire and Northants were left frustrated by the weather after day two of their County Championship clash was called off without a ball being bowled.

Bad light meant no play was possible before lunch, which was taken half an hour early.

But after persistent rain began to fall, umpires Trevor Jesty and Michael Gough abandoned play midway through the afternoon following an inspection.

Northants will resume on day three on 297-6, Andrew Hall unbeaten on 95.

The South African all-rounder shared in a sixth-wicket stand of 163 with debutant David Willey, son of umpire and former England Test batsman Peter, on the opening day.
