Foxes chief eyes Premier League

Milan Mandaric
Mandaric has set his sights on getting Leicester into the top flight

Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric has set his sights on getting the club back into the Premier League.

The Foxes are on the brink of an immediate return to the Championship and Mandaric says there is no reason why they cannot go up next year too.

"This club and its supporters belong in the Premier League," Mandaric told BBC Radio Leicester.

"Two years ago I wouldn't have said it was feasible to go down. Can we get promoted next season? Why not?"

Leicester are top of League One and could seal promotion this weekend when they face Southend at Roots Hall.

Mandaric knows they face a tough test in the Championship next term, but sees no reason why they should not set their sights high.

"I know it'll be a lot more difficult, but we'll give it a try," added Mandaric.

"Our manager Nigel Pearson is a winner and the players are winners and we'll do our best. There will be a bigger budget for the Championship than there was last year too.

"I've not enjoyed being in League One at all this season.

"I don't want to watch games in this division, no disrespect to any of the teams in there, but Leicester City do not belong in League One."
