Cope lost 10-9 to Peter Ebdon in the first round of the 2008 championships
Jamie Cope expects a tough opening round match against world number 12 Joe Perry at the World Championships.
Cope, from Longton, will make his second appearance at the Crucible, having lost in the first round in 2008.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "You're never going to get an easy draw, they're all tough, and it'll be nice to play Joe.
"It's all about what happens on the day. I save my best snooker for the biggest tournaments and it'll be great for me to do well there."
Cope experienced the special atmosphere of the Crucible Theatre for the first time during his final-frame decider against Peter Ebdon last year.
He added: "It's the best place to play and I'll be looking to try and perform there.
"It was amazing when I played there last year and if it's anything like that then that will be great."
Cope is provisionally ranked 21st in the world for the 2009/10 season, and a good run at the World Championships could propel him into the elite top 16 for the first time.
