Allen claims world qualifier win

Mark Allen is aiming for a first appearance at the Crucible
Mark Allen started his bid for a place in the World Championship finals with a comfortable victory in the third qualifying round on Wednesday.

The Antrim ace defeated Lee Spick 10-5 in Prestatyn, Wales.

The former World Amateur champion will be up against Rod Lawler in the fourth and penultimate qualifying round.

Kent-based NI player Gerard Greene faces David Gilbert in the fourth round while Belfast's Joe Swail comes in at the final qualifying round stage.

Swail has twice reached the semi-finals of the World Championship in Sheffield.
