Dott books Hendry semi-final date
Graeme Dott in action at this year's World Championship
Dott has quickened his pace around the table
World champion Graeme Dott continued his fine form with a 9-6 victory over Steve Davis in the quarter-finals of the Maplin UK Championship.

The world champion led 5-3 after their opening session, breaks of 78, 83 and 65 helping him come from 3-2 down.

Runs of 52 and 61 helped the Scotsman move within one frame of victory at 8-4 before Davis pulled two frames back.

But a break of 113, the only century of the match, sealed victory for Dott and a semi-final date with Stephen Hendry.

"I have never actually beaten Stephen so it should be a good match," said Dott, who also impressed with previous wins over Scott Mackenzie (9-2) and Robin Hull (9-1).

"I have been playing really well. That match wasn't quite as good as the other two, but that was down to Steve with his tactical awareness.

"You are never over the line until you shake hands with him and even at 8-4, I still knew there was a chance he could come back.

"But I waited for my chance and it was nice to finish with a century."
