Guernsey sailor Johanna Asplund lies in 61st place after seven rounds of the Optimist European Championships.

The 14-year-old is competing as part of the seven strong British junior squad in Poland, against teams from 40 different nations.

Asplund's best finish was 19th in race six, and with five rounds still to go she is hoping to repeat that feat.

"I am looking ahead and focusing on doing my best in the next race and then the next," she said.

"I may not be where I should be in the results, but there's no point thinking about that.

"We go through each race but then we move on."

Asplund is only the second sailor from Guernsey to gain a place on the Great Britain squad.
