The Mavericks took charge early on and carved out a 7-4 lead.

But the champions battled back to trail 21-22 at the end of the half and by the end of the third quarter they had taken a slender 36-35 lead.

And TeamBath were able to claim a tense victory with the help of a flurry of interceptions in the last four minutes.

"Massive respect to Mavericks for the way they took us on today," said TeamBath coach Jan Crabtree, who saw her team go through the regular season unbeaten.

"I knew our opportunity would come, and it was then up to the team to take their chance, and I'm delighted that they did so with such control.

"It has been a superb season, and they should be very proud of their achievements."
