Invicta Dynamos' all-time highest points scorer Andy Smith has been appointed captain for next season. Smith has scored 350 goals and made 321 assists during his seven years at the Gillingham-based club. Coach Kevin Parrish told the club's website: "Naturally we are delighted. "When you play like he does, you will attract attention from other teams but time and time again he opts to stay with the Dynamos. This demonstrates how he feels about the club." Smith starred once again for the Dynamos in the English National Ice Hockey League South last season with 48 goals and 54 assists - taking his tally to 102 points for the campaign. Former captain Karl Lennon retired at the end of last season, and speaking of his decision to hand Smith the 'C', Parrish said: "If you have seen Andy play in recent seasons his effort and desire is beyond doubt. "When the squad needs someone to step up to the mark, he is always there. "He has more than earned the respect of his teammates with his performances during his time here. "I have no doubt he will be an excellent captain". Smith will be hoping to lead the Dynamos back to the top of the pack after they missed out on an eighth consecutive ENIHL South title in 2010/11. Meanwhile, Welsh forward Corey Watkins has become the second player to commit his future to the Dynamos after he accepted an offer to remain with the club for another season.
