Nottingham Panthers defenceman Jeremy van Hoof will make his debut in Wednesday night's trip to Cardiff Devils in the Elite League.

The 29-year old Canadian joined the club on signing deadline day on Monday from EPL side Guildford Flames.

Coach Corey Neilson told BBC Radio Nottingham: "He is a leader and will take ownership in the defensive zone."

Van Hoof added: "It's a baptism of fire in Cardiff but hopefully we will come away with the two points."

It is the Panthers second visit to Wales in two weeks - the last trip was in the Challenge Cup as a 3-3 draw meant both sides qualified for the semi-finals.

They have since qualified for the final, which is played across two legs, following a stunning 15-0 second-leg victory over Newcastle, while Cardiff are still to meet Belfast for a right to meet Nottingham in the final.
