Rampant Nottingham Panthers thump Edinburgh Capitals

Jeff Heerema
Heerema joined Panthers at the beginning of December

New signing Jeff Heerema grabbed a hat-trick as Nottingham Panthers bounced back from Saturday's loss at Edinburgh to thump the same team 11-5 on Sunday.

Panthers broke out with a five-goal opening period and never looked back.

Jonathon Zion and David Clarke both scored twice with David-Alexandre Beauregard, Jade Galbraith, Billy Ryan, and Robert Lachowicz also on target.

On Saturday, Panthers conceded 18 seconds from time to lose 5-4 at Capitals - their third straight defeat.

Panthers - who were without six of their regulars - were trailing 4-1 heading into the final period but scored three times in four minutes to start the third session.

Clarke once again scored twice, with Lachowicz and player coach Corey Neilson getting the other goals.

But Sunday's home success means Panthers have moved back up to second spot in the Elite League table and they play host to league leaders Belfast Giants on Sunday, 19 December.
